She moved to Des Moines, IA in 1988 and began her career in printing at The Mel Straub Corporation, a well-established printing company. She was hired as an executive assistant to the Vice President and later became the Sales Manager. She left The Mel Straub Corporation to open her own companies that included two fitness centers and a Laundromat. After managing and running these companies for six years she moved back into the printing industry. In January of 2000, Acme Printing hired Talena to manage the house accounts and the State of Iowa printing contracts. She more than doubled the house sales and took on an outside sales position. She became the leader in sales at Acme Printing and maintained that position for five years. She specialized in printing for local and national political consultants and managed print production for clients in California, Iowa, and Michigan. In 2010, she assisted with all of the print projects for the New Jersey absentee ballots for the Republican National Committee. Her knowledge of print and direct mail has been instrumental to her sales success. Talena's efficiency and attention to detail are critical to the print industry’s quick-turn environment. In November 2009, Talena was promoted to Vice President of Sales and Marketing. In April 2010, the president, CEO, and owner of Acme Printing, Jerry Miller, suddenly passed away and Talena was selected to serve on the management team, running the entire company along with two other vice presidents. She joined the Redwave Communications team during 2010, where she designed sales and marketing programs to build their direct mail and print customer base. She helped launch their new technology products, including mobile device applications from Redwave Mobile and MyVoterTools.com applications for public affairs clients seeking to expand their footprint in voter registration and membership turnout. In August 2011, she again joined the Acme Printing team as the CEO and will continue the stringent quality and services benchmark that Acme Printing has achieved. |
